Maryland Cooperative Extension offers a variety
of educational information on renewable natural resources. The various
resources can be obtained in different formats which are listed with
the individual publication titles:
1) Hard copies (in print) of many of the publications below can
be obtained from the Maryland Cooperative Extension office located
in your county www.extension.umd.edu/local/index.cfm.
2) Some of the publications are available online and can be viewed
by simply clicking "Online."
3) Some publications are available in PDF format, for which you
will need Acrobat
Reader (a free downloadable program) to view them. A few of
these publications are large and may take a few minutes to open.
4) Links to downloadable software of interest to viewers is provided.

Riparian Forest Buffers: The Link Between
Land and Water Video (contact for price)
Riparian- or streamside-forests are the
link between land and water. These forests provide many
benefits to streams, wildlife, fisheries, and humans.
This educational video illustrates the functions and values
of riparian forest habitat. It provides information on
the "three-zone riparian management system" and visits
both urban and rural buffer projects.

of Maryland. This quarterly newsletter currently serves
people interested in forest stewardship. Branching Out
includes timely information on tax issues, incentive programs,
legislative and other issues pertinent to forest stewardship.
New publication and upcoming stewardship events are also
