Maryland has a home and garden hot line for residents to speak to
a horticulture consultant for tips and advice. The number is 1-800-342-2507
and the consultants will speak to interested parties from 8 a.m.
- 1 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Plant
Diagnostics Website Offers photographic keys to diagnose and solve plant
problems using integrated pest management principles.
Master
Gardener Program
The Home and Garden Information Center has a Master Gardener Program,
which trains interested parties to help the Maryland Cooperative
Extension solve gardening problems and teach environmentally sound
practices by:
· working in information booths at community events and
fairs,
· maintaining demonstration gardens,
· answering garden questions at plant clinics,
· teaching horticulture to beginning gardeners and youth,
and
· using special talents, such as writing and photography,
to benefit the program
Master Gardener training classes are conducted annually by Maryland
Cooperative Extension specialists, agents, and other horticulture
professionals. Through the training program, participants are
taught many different horticultural subjects by experts in the
field.
